Some Idea Empty Some Idea

Post by Kathryn Fri Jun 19, 2015 3:41 pm

Hey, sorry if I'm stealing anyone's thunder for any RPs they want to have.

When I looked at RPs done in the past, they all seem very combat oriented and just crazy for normal everyday people. So, with some help, I came up with an idea that revolved around focusing on the civilian population in a besieged city during a civil war. The plot idea follows:

In an unnamed country (can be named during plot dev) a civil war has broken out between the government and a rebellious faction that sees the government as oppressive and tyrannical. As the war drags out, hope for a quick resolution fades. The southern portion of the country, which is firmly in government hands, sees a return to normal day to day activities only disrupted occasionally by a rebel terrorist attack. The north of the country is a mix of government strongholds surrounded by rebel territory. On the northern coast of this country lies the capital city (think of a name later), which has been under siege since the beginning of the war. The city draws its relief from the northern deep harbor ports which provide supplies and soldiers to maintain that the capital city does not fall. The government also maintains a strong presence in the capital city as the Chancellor refuses to move the seat of government out of the capital city. Surrounded on all sides except for the sea, the only land corridor open is the 'Saint's Lane', which is a government highway that is heavily defended and provides relief to a fortress to the south which acts as a forward outpost to spy on rebel movement.

Instead of the casual theme of being soldiers fighting, it can be instead flipped to a civilian side, where people are forced with trying to live their everyday lives and may run into loyalty issues as they live in the city. By that, I mean, I had the idea that there could be either rebel agents in the city or people dedicated to their cause that aim to either spy, sabotage, or demoralize the population within the city into surrendering. So it kind of is like a sort of espionage idea as opposed to the common "let's go to war" idea.

Thoughts anybody? This does need some more development before it can be declared a full Role-Play.

We had a collab on an idea like this, but you've developed it a lot farther than we did previously.

I like the idea personally. I'm on board.

I sort of feel like it's just going to be two belligerent sides trying to eliminate each other through espionage with either random civilians or independent factions getting in the way.

I love that concept idea, the only problem is mustering enough people in order to make it happen.

Sounds somewhat like AC: Unity. Quite the interesting concept.
